Eligibility: - Clergymen and missionaries with theological or academic religious education who intend to go to Brazil for religious purposes
Terms and Conditions: - For extended stays (a minimum of 6 months) the same type of visa can be issued to immediate family members. Those are, however, prohibited from engaging in any paid activity in Brazil.
- First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.
- This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. If necessary, a visa extension may be issued by the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (special requirements apply).
- Whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, registration with the Federal Police in Brazil is mandatory within 30 days from first arrival in the country (together with the passport, you must submit the original visa application form that will be returned to you by the Embassy once the visa is issued).
- Visa will be issued on a "laissez-passer" to nationals of the following countries: Bhutan, Central African Republic, and Taiwan.
- Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.
Procedures: - Submission to the Embassy of two visa application forms (click here to download form) per applicant, properly filled out (first and second pages) and duly signed (parents must sign for those under 18 years old), together with the following documentation:
- passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months prior to its expiration date, and with at least 2 blank visa pages available for the visa stamp - excluding the pages reserved for Amendments and Endorsements.
- two recent 2" x 2" passport-type photographs of applicant, showing entire face (must be front view) in white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted
- as applicable (i.e., if applicant travelled within the last 90 days to any of the following countries: Angola, Bolivia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guiana, Gabon, Ghana, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sudan, or Venezuela), yellow fever vaccination certificate.
- Please note that yellow fever vaccination is advisable if applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, and Tocantins.
- appropriate visa and legalization payments, as applicable. Click here for visa fees.
- ordination certificate and/or diploma and school transcripts for complete undergraduate theological studies (notarized document plus one copy)
- recent résumé
- marriage certificate, birth certificate, or other official dependency document for spouse/ children/dependents and other immediate family members, as applicable
- proof of residence in the consular jurisdiction
- recent non-criminal record issued by the local (i.e., applicant's place of residence) Police Department (if applicant is of a criminally liable age)
- signed statement of committment that the applicant will not engage in any activity in Indian areas without the proper authorization by FUNAI -National Indian Foundation (notarized document plus one copy)
- empowerment certificate issued to the Brazilian religious or missionary organization's head officer
- charter and bylaws of the Brazilian religious or missionary organization
- financial affidavit drawn at a Cartório by the Brazilian religious or missionary organization, guaranteeing the maintenance of the applicant and his/her family in Brazil and their repatriation at term.
The requirements listed are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information/documentation. All supporting documentation that is not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Embassy. Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Cartório in Brazil. The Embassy accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person or by a third party, acting on his/her behalf, or a travel/visa agency in Singapore. The Embassy cannot and will not recommend any such firm. Visas are normally processed in 3 working days.
