Student Visa (VITEM IV)

In times of heavy workload, the processing time may be extended. Do not leave your application to the last minute.

GENERAL RULES

Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil to study – including theological and technical studies, must have a ‘Student Visa’.

· Citizens of Austria, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Finland, France, Iceland, The Netherlands, Paraguay, The Philippines, Poland, Spain, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and United Kingdom, are not required to have a ‘Student Visa’ when travelling to Brazil, provided that they are not University or College students and that their stay does not exceed 90 days.

· Applicants must have lived in Singapore for at least one year prior to the visa application.

· Applicants must lodge their application in person.

· First entry into Brazil must be within 90 days from the date the visa is issued.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly.

· Within 30 days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of a ‘Student Visa’ must register with the Brazilian Immigration authorities (DPMAF) and submit a copy of the visa application form, which will have been stamped and returned to them by this Embassy.

· Length of stay in Brazil is up to one year, extendable, at the discretion of the Brazilian Immigration Authority.

. An Embarkation/Disembarkation card, provided to all visitors by the Brazilian Immigration authorities (DPMAF), must be filled in and signed appropriately and submitted to immigration upon arrival.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

· Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than 6 months

Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted

· Visa Application Form must be filled on-line at https://scedv.serpro.gov.br

. Fill in the form.
. Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt.
. Print the receipt.
. Attach one passport-size photograph.
. Sign the receipt.
. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt, the original documentation to the Embassy.

The application form filled–out on-line is valid for one month only; if you apply after that period it will be necessary to fill-out another form.

· A letter from the educational institution in Brazil, confirming acceptance of the student and indicating the length of the course, number of hours per lesson and number of lessons per week. The signature on that letter must be legalised by a Notary Public (Tabelião) in Brazil.

· For applicants of 18 years of age or above: original Certificate of Non Criminal Conviction. The Certificate must be requested at Singapore Police, it may take up to two weeks to be issued, and is valid for 3 months only.

· Proof of means of support during the applicant’s stay in Brazil.

Bearers of this type of visa are not allowed to work.

· Certificate of vaccination, where necessary

· Payment of the consular fee of S$80.00 * Visa fee must be deposited at United Overseas Bank (UOB), account number: 116/310/925-0 - Embassy of Brazil.

* Note that deposit made at the Embassy of Brazil's account is non-refundable, and payment must be made only on the day application will be lodged; the nearest UOB branch from the Embassy is at Velocity @ Novena Square Shopping Centre. 

* USA citizens are subject to an additional processing fee of S$280.00, in reciprocity for a similar fee charged by the US authority for processing all kinds of visa. On the same basis, attendance of the applicant in person is mandatory.  The basic fee is not needed to be paid.

* On a reciprocity basis, British citizens applying for a visa valid for over 180 days must pay an additional processing fee of S$310.00.

* Citizens whose visa applications require an approval from the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations must pay an additional fee of S$50.00.
