The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations (Itamaraty), through its Cultural Department, announces the International Competition of Monographs on the Work of Graciliano Ramos. Registration is open until August 30, 2008, according to the conditions established in the original Portuguese text (click here to read both the original text and the English version). The five best essays, to be selected by a Committee of Judges established for that purpose, will be awarded the 2008 Itamaraty Brazilian Literature Prize. In 2006 and 2007, the contest was based on the works of Machado de Assis and Lima Barreto, respectively.
